Download Reddit videos and images
Paste any public Reddit post link and pull the video or image straight from Reddit's own file — including image galleries.
Why a Reddit video download is sometimes silent
Reddit stores video and audio as two separate files (a DASH video stream and a DASH audio stream) and its own web player stitches them together in your browser. Most downloader tools, this one included, pull the raw video-only stream Reddit calls the "fallback" file, because muxing the two into one file server-side adds real processing cost. The result: a v.redd.it download with no sound, even though the post itself has audio when viewed on Reddit directly.
Image posts and multi-image galleries do not have this limitation — each image resolves to its full-resolution original, in gallery order.
Short redd.it links expand to their full reddit.com/comments/ URL automatically before resolving.
How it works
- 1
Copy the post link
Use the Share button on any public Reddit post — works from the app, old.reddit.com, or the redesigned site.
- 2
Paste it above
redd.it short links are expanded to the full post automatically.
- 3
Download the file
Videos come as MP4 (no audio track); images and galleries come at full original resolution.
FAQ
Why is there no sound in the video?
Reddit serves video and audio as separate files. This tool pulls the video-only stream — the same tradeoff most Reddit downloaders make.
Do private subreddits work?
No — only posts a logged-out visitor could already see on a public subreddit.
Do image galleries download as one file?
No — each image in a gallery resolves as its own separate download, in the order it appears in the post.
