About Insta Clip

Insta Clip started as a small, focused answer to one annoyance: most "downloader" sites re-encode whatever they fetch, so what you save looks noticeably worse than what you watched. Reels come out blocky, photos lose detail, and audio gets flattened — because the site compressed the file a second time to save on its own bandwidth bill.

This tool takes a different approach. It asks the source platform's own API for the exact file its official app would play — same resolution, same bitrate — and streams it straight through with no re-encoding step in between. Carousels resolve every slide, not just the first one. Facebook videos expose both their HD and SD variants instead of guessing which one you wanted.

It supports Instagram (posts, reels, stories, IGTV), Facebook (videos, reels, photos), TikTok, X (Twitter), Reddit, Pinterest, and Threads — all public content, all free, no account or login required on your end.

How it works, briefly

A small server resolves the link you paste against the platform's own public API or embed endpoints, then streams the media file back through itself so your browser can save it — this is also what dodges the CORS and referer restrictions that block a direct download. Nothing you submit is written to disk; see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is and isn't kept.

Who's behind it

Insta Clip is built and maintained independently, not by a team or a company. It runs ad-supported to cover hosting costs, and improvements happen based on what actually breaks when a platform changes something internally.
